History Squad was instrumental in helping English Heritage to achieve the Sandford Award at Bolsover Castle and Goodrich Castle.
"His experience in delivery to different abilities and his skill in asking open questions and drawing on the pupil’s knowledge to captivate them worked throughout the session. Kevin’s sense of humour and welcoming approach was a joy” Shelley Fielder, Sandford Award Judge.

At historic venues and museums across the country, we promote our heritage through means of practical, hands-on performances and engaging storytelling, History Squad guarantees a professional, informative and entertaining display designed to inspire and capture the imagination.
The original Bowman at Warwick Castle for over 10 years, the principal Kevin Hicks, can often be seen at numerous castles around the country. In addition to playing Robin Hood beneath the great oak at Sherwood Forest, Kevin also performs regularly at English Heritage venues.
Carrying out diverse activities History Squad can help raise the profile of history at local and national levels. Some of the projects we have been involved in include writing scripts for and coaching in-house guides in the delivery of bespoke tours. We have represented the British Tourist Authority on many occasions both at home and abroad.
Our mission is to encourage people to see history in a new light... interesting, fun, dangerous, and exciting. We develop the audience’s interest in history and take them back in time via engaging storytelling and interactive opportunities to experience the past for themselves.
Original and fascinating presentations are thoroughly researched and each is tailored to individual venues.
We are constantly developing new ideas, so feel free to call us to discuss how we can enhance your venue or event.
